Statement of independence

KST Institute is and operates as an independent technical authority and advisory firm. The Institute does not hold shareholdings in projects it assesses, does not accept contingent fees on assessment outcomes, and does not engage in any activity that would compromise the integrity of its inspection, audit, certification or advisory work.

02

Impartiality safeguards

The Institute maintains documented safeguards, including:

  • Separated organisational structures between advisory and inspection / certification units
  • Disclosure obligations for all personnel on pre-existing and concurrent interests
  • Engagement acceptance procedures with conflict-of-interest screening
  • Supervisory review by the Ethics & Integrity Committee
  • A public complaints and appeals procedure
03

Scope of application

This policy applies to all personnel — staff, associates, contractors, subcontractors — and to any third party acting on the Institute's behalf.

04

Risk-based impartiality analysis

The Institute conducts a documented impartiality risk analysis for each relevant mandate, covering relationships, economic interests and prior engagements with the client and the object of assessment. Identified risks are mitigated or the mandate is declined.

05

Oversight

Oversight of impartiality sits with the Ethics & Integrity Committee, which reports independently to the Board of Directors. The Committee reviews aggregate statistics on conflict-of-interest declarations, declined engagements and mitigated risks at least annually.

06

Reporting concerns

Any concern regarding the Institute's impartiality can be reported — confidentially and without retaliation — through the Institute's Whistleblowing Channel or directly to the Ethics & Integrity Committee at ethics@kstinstitute.com.
